Alanno’s station master was like no other. He also took care of everything revolving around the train station, from selling tickets, manoeuvring trains, opening and closing rail crossings, to maintaining the beautiful flowerbed near the train station. Alanno’s station master inspired an expression in Abruzzo: “You’re like Alanno’s station master (Mi sembri il capostazione di Alanno) to indicate someone who wants to do all sorts of things all by themselves. Legend has it that locals would even refer to the station master to write and send letters or for advice. This way, Alanno’s train station was a reference point for the community, where people could meet and interact.
That same the train station was where grapes were taken to be sold outside Abruzzo. And part of our vineyards is located on a hill in front of it. We can imagine plenty of interaction between our farmers and the station master back in the day.
The image of town’s zealous station master reflects what our company has been doing for over 50 years, i.e. working hard for our land and community. That’s why we have dedicated a whole range of wines to him.
